JOANNA VAN ROMUNDE BSC (HONS) MGoDT(MT) ACFBA
My name is Joanna Van Romunde and I am the director and head trainer at Go Fetch It! I have had a lifelong love of animals growing up on a small holding in Devon, surrounded by animals and of course dogs. Training our own pet dogs and horses, followed on to setting up and running a successful Dog Walking and Home Sitting Business where problematic dogs were my speciality! I completed studies in Dog Training and Behaviour through the Cambridge Institute of Canine Behaviour and Training gaining qualifications across the board from puppy training to working with aggressive dogs. I am currently a recognised and certified Master Dog Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers and an Associate practitioner with The Canine and Feline Behavioural Association. I am a dog trainer for assistance dog charity DogAID, helping my clients gain full assistance dog qualifications with their own pet dogs.
I have recently completed my Scentwork UK Recognised Trainer certificate for Levels 1-4 Scentwork UK Courses. Go Fetch It! Is a Kennel Club listed dog training club and approved venue for the Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme Awards.
I have continued my drive to learn attending courses and seminars run by some of the world’s most renowned dog trainers and behaviourists. The relationship between man and his dog and their innate understanding of each other inspired my lifelong interest in both human psychology and dog behaviour and training. Everyday my own dogs teach me something new, they are by far the greatest tutors, and each day amaze me with their intelligence and their understanding of our complicated human orientated world that they share with us.
Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring-it was peace.

When I first became involved with the dog world, it was all completely new to me and totally out of my comfort zone. My daughter rescued a tiny Staffy puppy from an unsuitable home 4yrs ago, and that’s when I first met Boo! Up until that point, I had no interest in dogs what so ever. Seeing how my family fell completely and utterly in love with him I felt I had no choice but to keep him and in doing so I had to get the right help and advice to how make certain he would be a good family dog.
This is how I met Jo, she was highly recommended to me, and in meeting Jo my whole career was about to take on a new direction, and I have not looked back. We started with the basic puppy classes then moving on with everything that Jo had to offer. This became such a huge part of my life that i decided to quit the day job and study to become a dog trainer.
I have studied with The Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training completing Basic handling and training skills, Professional Instructors skills and management, and I am a Recognised Trainer Scenting UK Level 1. I continue with my studies as we speak!
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.
